Description

Hardiest of the red striped musa’s this is a colourful ornamental banana. Large ornamental green leaves with maroon markings on the top and undersides of each leaf. The inflorescence is a large pink pseudo star shape with small yellow flowers, makes seeded inedible fruit.  Musa Bordelon was discovered in the Louisiana town of Bordelonville.

Height and Spread: Mature height up to 9-14 ft

Sun/Shade: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil Conditions:  Rich moist well drained soil.

Hardy/Winter protection: Tender, although believed to be hardy down to -9 when mature.
